The New York State Land Title Association welcomes everyone engaged in the business of insuring title to real property in the state of New York. Our members encompass both companies and sole practitioners.
The Association is governed by an Executive Committee comprised of title insurance underwriters and title insurance agents. For a detailed description of Association governance, please see our Constitution and By-laws.
NYSLTA is an incorporated, registered 501 c (6) non-profit organization. Officers are volunteer members--title insurance professionals who serve without compensation. The Association is managed by a full-time professional staff, under the direction of an executive vice-president.
About Title Insurance
Title insurance protects owners and lenders with the assurance of clear uncontested ownership of title to real property. Title agents, working with affiliated professionals--abstractors, examiners, surveyors, settlement companies, county clerks, and closers--research and resolve all issues related to the assurance of title. The title agent also works with a title insurance underwriter to provide any of a number of policies called for in the transaction.
