Please join the NYSLTA in giving the gift of joy to children this year by participating in
the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program.

 

 

 

What is the Angel Tree Program?

Thousands of families struggle to meet the financial demands of day to day life and question how they might provide a gift or 2 for their children during the Holidays. Thanks to generous NYSLTA members our association supplied gifts to over 650 children across New York State in 2018. Please help us with our 2019 goal to make the holiday a little brighter for 700 children.

 

How you can help:

·        Contact charitableworks@nyslta.org to let the committee know how many children your office would like to buy gifts for by Friday 11/15/19.

 

·        You will receive Angel tags to distribute to participants to purchase gift items; each of which will include a child’s name, age, gender and gift wish. Gift wishes are normally in the $25.00 range.

 

·        The Charitable Works Committee will arrange for pickup of your unwrapped gifts (tags attached) between 12/9 - 12/13 and have them delivered to Salvation Army distribution centers across New York State.

]]> Thu, 25 Feb 2016 19:23:42 GMT Call for Auction/Raffle Donations https://www.nyslta.org/members/blog_view.asp?id=1237280&post=221255 https://www.nyslta.org/members/blog_view.asp?id=1237280&post=221255 The Charitable Works Committee will present an auction and raffle at the NYSLTA 2015 Annual Meeting at Skytop Lodge on August 17th.

 

Proceeds will go to Gilda's Club NYC and Gilda's Club Rochester to provide support for people living with cancer.

 

The Committee is asking for donations of prizes for the auction and raffle. NYSLTA Members have already donated an Apple I-Watch, pro-team sports events, sports memorabilia, spa certificates and rare "cult wine".

 

Do you have  beach house? Donate a week or a weekend, including the cleaning fee.

Do you have season tickets to a theater program, concert series or pro sports? Donate a pair of tickets.

 

Don't wait for the Charitable Works Committee member to call you.

 

Send an email to charitableworks@nyslta.org to pledge your donation.  The Committee needs to hear from you by July 15th.

  

We all need a bit more good karma.

The Valentine’s party held at the St. Alban’s Community Living Center was a success! The Chief of Voluntary Services has invited us back next year. We were well prepared to serve our veterans with the help of 15 volunteers. We had approximately 65 veterans in attendance. Our volunteer team handled many tasks from wheeling patients to the dining room, to serving refreshments and conversing with the veterans. The music was a hit and at one point we had the entire room singing God Bless America.

In addition, through the generous contributions of the NYSLTA membership, so far we’ve collected 25 large cartons of sundry items to be delivered among 5 veteran’s hospitals and approximately 25 house warming gift baskets for homeless veterans being placed in apartments for the first time.

On behalf of the committee, thank you for helping make a strong show of support for NY veterans.
