This course examines the history of our legal profession as it pertains to explicit and implicit bias, both historically and presently. It seeks to place laws affecting land ownership within our broader social fabric, often stemming from racist and discriminatory origins, and how that affects the title insurance industry today.

The goal of this program is to pose ethical considerations to attorneys and agents regarding our profession and how courts and attorneys can perpetuate cultural bias and myths. It also provides crucial historical and legal context in order to broaden the audience’s cultural competency and awareness of explicit and implicit bias woven into our legal fabric, as well as current efforts to thwart that bias.

A professional continuing education program approved by the NY State DFS.

NYSLTA approval number NYPO - 102959

Upon completion of this webinar, licensed title agents & attorneys may receive 1 CE/CLE "Diversity, Inclusion and Elimination of Bias" (DEI) credit.
