What you can do.
Who do I call
1. Contact the DFS before June 19
Tell them about your business, how long you have been doing this work and exactly how the regulations will impact you.
Your 206 comments should be sent to paul.zuckerman@dfs.ny.gov
Your 208 comments should be sent to TitleInsReg@dfs.ny.gov
The DFS Comment period ends June 19 - send your comment today
2. Contact your state legislator directly by mail, or telephone.
Tell them you know this is not a legislative matter but ask for their support because the regulation will impact you and their other constituents. Explain how the regulations encroach on their authority as legislators. Ask them to contact the DFS and demand they meet with people in the title industry to fix these broken regulations.
You can find out your legislators' contact information on the Board of Elections web site: http://www.elections.ny.gov/district-map/district-map.html
What is the point
The NYSLTA Executive Committee has not authorized a final position on these regulations at
this time. However, we have developed a list of Talking Points, which
highlight our concerns with the unwanted and harmful impact these
measures will have on the solvency of the title insurance underwriting
corporations, the normal business practice of real estate closings and
consequent increase in costs for consumers.
