OrganizationThe New York State Land Title Association, Inc. advances the common interests of all those engaged in the business of abstracting, examining and insuring titles, facilitate real estate transactions and interests. With Members in all 62 counties of New York State, our main office is at 120 Broadway, Suite 945, New York, NY 10271. The New York State Land Title Association welcomes everyone engaged in the business of insuring title to real property in the State of New York. Our members encompass both companies and sole practitioners. About Title Insurance - Title insurance protects real property owners and lenders with the assurance of clear uncontested ownership of title to real property. Title agents, working with affiliated professionals – abstractors, examiners, surveyors, settlement companies, county clerks, and closers – research and resolve all issues related to the assurance of title. The title agent also works with a title insurance underwriter to provide any of a number of policies called for in the transaction. This is Us
The NYSLTA is a professional association of volunteer members from the New York title insurance professions who serve without compensation. The Association is managed by a full-time professional staff, under the direction of an executive vice-president. Our History
NYSLTA was founded in 1921 as the New York State Title Association. In 1993, the Association was incorporated as The New York State Land Title Association as a registered 501(c)(6) not-for-profit corporation. Over the past 100 years, this Land Title Association has worked to provide a fair and level playing field for all businesses , while protecting the integrity of the land records system and the ownership rights of property owners. The NYSLTA is the only organization that can speak for the entire title insurance industry – both underwriters and title agents – in New York State. We communicate important business information and updates to our members. NYSLTA serves as needed as a subject matter expert for legislators in certain areas of real estate, land recordation, taxation and regulation. Read More |
