NY Courts Launch Online Tool to Search, Retrieve Surrogate’s Court Documents
NEW YORK ─ In its ongoing efforts to enhance accessibility and efficiency,
the New York State Court System has launched an online service,
WebSurrogate (https://websurrogates.nycourts.gov/), providing users convenient, 24/7
access to information on estate proceedings and other filings within Surrogate’s Court.
Located in every county of the State, the Surrogate’s Court handles matters involving
issues related to deceased persons and their estates, as well as adoptions and certain
types of guardianships.
WebSurrogate allows users to search files, retrieve documents and view historical
records that are considered public information. You can search files by party name or
file number, viewing file history and associated documents, among other features.
WebSurrogate is now available in 47 New York counties, including Queens and
Richmond (Staten Island) counties in New York City, and will be up and running in all 62
counties of the State in the coming months.
A full list of the counties where WebSurrogate is now available follows.
